We have a range of buildings and facilities on site available to use. All buildings have disabled friendly access.
The Linhay This houses our fridges and freezers allowing groups to freeze ice packs and keep food frozen / refrigerated as well as some of the self-led activity equipment. All overnight bookings are allocated a fridge/freezer and a charging locker. | |
The Rendle HutThis is a generously sized building with a large porch on the front, ideal for hanging wet suits up to dry or shelter from the rain. This building has tables, chairs and a white board. There is a sink for making tea and coffee or washing up after craft. Makes a great venue for meetings, training or just watching a movie on camp. | |
The Hughes BuildingThis is made up of two rooms, both with outside access and an internal door between them. This building has tables, chairs and white boards in both rooms. As well as a sink in one of them for making tea and coffee or washing up after craft. Makes a great venue for meetings, training or just watching a movie on camp. | |
The Activity BarnThis is a covered area that groups can use any time during their stay. It includes tables and chairs and also houses our traversing wall. | |
Toilet and Shower BlocksThe toilet block is located in the middle of the site. It houses boys, girls toilets and a disabled toilet. Around the side of this building is two shower cubicles. Next door to main toilet block is the leaders’ toilets and shower. This building is only open during busy periods. When this is closed we ask that adults use the disabled toilet. Both blocks have hot water. We ask groups to help by cleaning the toilets during their stay. During busy periods there is a cleaning rota on the Linhay noticeboards. | |
Wood PileWe have a designated wood pile on site. We also have wood scattered around the site for use. Any unused wood must be returned back to the woodpile before you depart. Availability and quality of wood will vary depending on previous users and weather conditions, if your camp will rely on firewood then we can help you purchase your own supply from local sources. | |
Altar FiresWe have a number of half-barrels, grills, and stands available for use. | |
DefibrillatorCan be found in the Linhay building with the Fridge/freezers. | |
First-Aid PointsThere are emergency first-aid points. Located at Site 1 Car Park, LInhay, Barn, Hughes, and Ranges. These are not intended to replace your own resources but are available for emergencies. We do ask that any use is reported. | |
Tables and BenchesThere are a number of wooden benches and tables available for use, these are stored in the barn and can be taken to your site. Please consider others with the number you borrow and return them at the end of your stay. | |
GroceriesIn Barnstaple there are various supermarkets; Tesco, Sainsburys, Lidl, Aldi, Food Warehouse, and Asda. | |
Camping and Outdoor SuppliesFor camping supplies there is Millets, Trespass, and Mountain Warehouse in Barnstaple, but just a little further out towards Braunton is Devon Outdoor and Camping Supplies, based at Trelawney Garden Centre. | |
GasThe nearest Calor gas supplier is Esso located on Belle Meadow Road, Barnstaple, EX32 9HQ There is Flogas available from B&Q EX31 2AU |

Cycle Hire
Bicycles can be hired form Tarka Bikes in Barnstaple by the train station, and provides access to the Tarka Trail for a traffic free ride.

Directions by road:
Collard Bridge Camp Site is approached, via Barnstaple, from the A361 North Devon Link Road. On reaching the outskirts of the town, follow the signs for the Hospital. Turn right at the roundabout near Ford, right at the roundabout next to the TA centre.
Approach the traffic lights in the right hand lane and turn right up the hill, heading towards Bratton Fleming. (From these traffic lights the next turning is 3.0 miles on the left). Continue through the hamlet of Snapper. After leaving Snapper, look out for a house called ‘Riversmead’ on the left hand side of the road.
The lane to the camp site is on the left just past ‘Riversmead’ House. Go over two narrow bridges. The site entrance is on the left, immediately after the second bridge.
